Dominus, a UK progressive developer specialising in urban renewal, has appointed Cookstown design and build contractor McAleer & Rushe to construct a Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) scheme in the heart of the City of London. Located at Holborn Viaduct and Snow Hill junction, 65 Holborn Viaduct will deliver 669 bedrooms across 14 storeys and located for students attending the London School of EconomicsKing’s College and Queen Mary University.

Germany: HIH Invest and Vonovia acquire € 516 MLN residential portfolio

HIH Invest Real Estate GmbH, in partnership with German housing company Vonovia, has launched a second investment fund focused on residential real estate. The fund has already acquired ten properties totaling € 516 MLN in investment volume. This includes eight development and new-build properties, along with two existing properties undergoing modernization. The properties acquired from Vonovia subsidiaries GSW and Buwog, comprise 127000 m2 of total space, including 97600 m2 of residential space and 8700 of commercial space.

Spain: Avintia begins the work of 294 'build to rent' (BTR) homes in Asturias

Avintia promotes affordable housing. The company begins this month the works of two residential developments intended for affordable rent in Asturias. The projects are located in Gijón and Lugones (Siero), and total 294 homes in build to rent (BTR) regime. The Gijón project will have 12,737 square meters and 250 homes located on the site where the School of Experts was located. Avintia will use an industrialized construction system that, according to the company, reduces construction and delivery times by 30%.

UK: Large development of 850 homes could change the horizon of Trafford

The designs allegedly presented to the Trafford Council last week by developers Cole Waterhousewould see the site of the former Hilti building in Stretford transformed into a higher education facility, along with 438 rental apartments and 419 studios for 'high-end' students. Designed by architects Chapman Taylor, the two-acre plot on Trafford Wharf Road could become the home of two 21- and 23-story rental towers.

UK: Homes England signs £54 MLN deal to build affordable rental homes
