UK, Southampton: Southampton's Mercury Point could be replaced with 810 student flats

Unite Students, the UK's largest provider of student accommodation, is to apply to redevelop 560-room Mercury Point in Duke Street, one of its key properties in the city. As shown on the newly released CGI images, the 810 bedrooms would be provided across two blocks connected by an elevated outdoor terrace, with the existing building set for closure in the summer of 2025.

Spain: Aviva Investors snaps up 331-home development site in Spain

Sweden: CapMan and Riksbyggen launch Swedish residential partnership

UK: Bid launched to develop 23-storey city centre residential scheme

Plans have been lodged for a 23-storey residential scheme in Manchester city centre. The multimillion-pound build-to-rent (BTR)development, by property investment and development company, Zephyr X, will be situated at the corner of Carnarvon Street and Cheetham Hill Road. The proposal includes 237 one- and two-bedroom apartments and a ground floor commercial unit. Construction of the design-conscious development of new homes for rent on land bound by Cheetham Hill Road, Carnarvon Street and Gibson Place, could begin later this year, depending on planning consent.

Germany: SAGA builds 40 senior-friendly apartments in Jenfeld

In Jenfeld, the municipal housing company SAGA is building a new residential complex especially for seniors. The 40 senior-friendly two-room apartments can be reached by an elevator and are barrier-free. In addition, a counseling service in the house helps with everyday problems. SAGA service residential complexes like this already exist at 21 locations in Hamburg. According to the urban development authority, the need for senior-friendly housing will continue to increase due to demographic change.

US: North Fort Myers affordable housing complex in the works for seniors only
