France, Toulouse: Greystar acquires a new residence in Toulouse

After initial operations in the Paris region, Greystar is now heading for Toulouse. The American investor, developer and operator has acquired a 390-apartment student residence and coliving complex from developer Linkcity, due to open in summer 2027.
US, Tucson: Capstone Collegiate Lands $76 Million for Luxury Student Housing Project

Capstone Collegiate Communities has obtained a financing package for the construction of a 165-unit, 532-bed student housing community in Tucson, Ariz. Completion is expected in fall 2027, before the academic year starts. The developer took out a $75.5 million loan from Cadence Bank, according to public records.
UK: UPP and Deutsche Bank announce new sustainability-linked funding

UK, Manchester: Plan for 33-storey student block in city centre

A new 33-storey student accommodation block could be built in a city centre if plans are approved. Developers Vita Group want to build on a vacant plot at the corner of Manchester's Hulme Street and Medlock Street, in the city's First Street district. Designs submitted to Manchester City Council show the new building would feature 861 rooms if approved, comprising four different sizes, and social spaces and three gyms.

In Mannheim-Neuostheim, Germany, a 4-storey extension to the Aldi store will be built, which will house student apartments. The investment, worth nearly €22 million, will be carried out by MOD21 – a subsidiary of Erbud – and Wolf Müller.

Germany: Municipal company buys 154 apartments in "Kool Kiel"

The Kieler Wohnungsgesellschaft (Kiwog) has bought the first construction phase of the "Kool Kiel" project. It is about 154 social housing with 10,630 m² of living space. Construction should start in the summer. The builder is the Adore Group. In a second construction phase, this is realizing a high-rise building with hotel uses on the building plot on the Werftbahnstraße. Subsequently, the realization of 180 apartments and commercial use on the ground floor is planned.
Spain: Calvià announces 300 new affordable rental apartments and 24 officially protected homes

The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual (PP), has announced the construction of about 300 affordable rental apartments for residents by private developers in four localities and 24 officially protected homes in Peguera. Amengual has visited this Wednesday together with the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, the municipally owned site on Bonavida de Peguera Street ceded to the Balearic Housing Institute (Ibavi) for the construction of 24 homes and 24 outdoor parking spaces, the Calvià City Council reported this Wednesday in a note.
Australia: Plans for NSW's largest ever build-to-rent (BTR) project in Sydney's inner west lodged with government

Developers have lodged an application with the NSW government for a $1.5 BLN build-to-rent (BTR) project in the inner west Sydney suburb of Marrickville. If approved, almost 1,200 rental units, including 115 affordable homes, will be built on the site that once housed a timber yard. A planning expert says while these type of projects can offer more security for renters, they may often target those with higher incomes.
The Netherlands: Woonin selects Heijmans to build 190 affordable rental homes in Utrecht

Following a tender by housing association Woonin, Royal Heijmans has been selected to supervise the demolition and construction of 190 rental apartments at the Van Heukelompark in Utrecht. The new building was designed by INBO, the landscape design for the project is made by OKRA landscape architects.
