Portugal, Lisbon: Gavari acquires an asset in Portugal for 6€ million for a student residence

Gavari is going international. The Spanish asset manager has decided to start its international growth with a first acquisition in Portugal. The company has chosen Lisbon, where it plans to develop a student residence with around 400 beds. Thus, the firm has purchased land for an amount of €6 million.
UK, Birmingham: Premier Inn owner plans to transform Birmingham hotel into major PBSA

Whitbread is proposing to redevelop its hotel on Birmingham’s Broad Street into a 546-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA). Subject to planning permission, the hotel, which currently operates as a Premier Inn, would be transformed into a 14-storey property with study space, a garden, and terraced areas.

In 2023, the Walloon Region launched a call for projects to facilitate access to student housing. In Louvain-la-Neuve, the public housing company Notre Maison responded. It aims to build 94 student rooms, spread across two buildings, right in the centre, on Rue des Bruyères, near the Cercle de Droit.

L&G said the capital from London CIV forms part of an additional £130 MLN raised in a second close for its Affordable Housing Fund, which also welcomed other investors, including social impact investor Better Society Capital.
