The Baker McKenzie Real Estate team has advised Merkel Asset Management on the financing for the construction of a student residence on the Armilla Health Campus, Granada. The residence, which will open in September 2024, has 293 beds that will serve students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, among others.

UK, Glasgow: Plan for new Glasgow city centre student accommodation

The documents were handed to the council to demolish the partially-used office building at 249 West George Street, near Blythswood Square, and build a new site for student housing. Applicant Courie Investments Ltd is bidding to create a mix of accommodation and innovative amenity spaces. If successful, the six-story building will include 147 studio apartments, including six accessible flats and one larger apartment.

UK, Manchester: PAG/Moda slash height of Upper Brook Street PBSA on people power

The planned 42-storey student tower, one part of a wider £450 million Manchester masterplan, has been reduced by 12 storeys in response to feedback from Ardwick residents. As well as a 25% reduction in height, feedback on Property Alliance Group and Moda Living’s scheme has prompted a decrease in beds from 1,100 to 983.

Spain: The 'build to rent' holds investment in residential, which totals 1,530 million until September

The volume of investment in the living sector exceeded 1,530 million euros in the first nine months of 2023. The 'prime' returns of the BTR continue to rise and stood at 4% in Madrid and 25% in Barcelona at the end of the third quarter.
